Building Resilience in Working Women

Working WomenToday’s women are very passionate about their work, fascinated with new ideas. But when it becomes a daily work and she has to balance her family, it is very difficult to handle sometimes.  So there is one theory called “Resilience” which is applicable to handle personal as well as professional situations. There are many models of resilience and the one I have used was invented by Dr. Conner. My Resilience formula includes five models that are, “positive about oneself or the world, flexible, prepared, alert and proactive.”  When someone uses them together or on their own these models help a lot in bouncing back from monotony, isolation, pressure and pushing  towards  increasing freshness  and flourishing life.

In my opinion, working women ought to follow this formula. In busy schedule, working women can’t give time to family, friends, kids and loved ones; sometimes hard situation comes which creates conflicts in loved ones or in kids and these entire situations becomes very stressful for women. Resilience can best be understood in these situations. And when a person uses Resilience then she will become happier while working hard and stretched.

Resilient person usually don’t get jammed easily. They can handle complications; get a boost of self-belief for tackling tough times. Another definition of Resilience is, “the big difference between the people who get overwhelmed and the people who feel motivated by challenges.” Resilient person don’t focus on the mistakes they made in a day, however they look ahead and try to improve the next day. The best example of an extremely resilient person as well professional woman is Oprah Winfrey. She is considered highly resilient and also had a flourishing personal and professional life.

Everyone can use the five constructs which are simple to understand and apply. Also, there is no need to apply any order when using these constructs. If there is any doubt, start by using the positive construct. Basically, thinking positively about any situation like believing that its best solution ever is sufficient to ignite innovative thoughts and guides to a solution.

Motivational speakers and their mantras may not develop workplace resilience; it starts during a simpler place that is engagement.  When someone can see the connection and importance what they do, it’s inspiring. Like in athletics, people can extend way beyond their regular ability to perform, it’s similar when the message is understandable and priority is vital that everyone can tap deep sources of resilience.

When a woman understands what their true north in life is, it puts in a powerful position. This advice is applicable for all women, whether they are working or not. When your tension level starts expanding, resilience is helpful to remind you that the pressure is often temporary. And the most important thing, the kids would love growing with such great mom who is resilient and not troubled to take any risk, who never gives up but says never mind that didn’t work. Let’s try a different idea!
